Dr Rebecca Fitzsimmons

I am a Scientific Officer working in the Cardiac Bioengineering Laboratory since 2020. I studied at the University of Adelaide (B.Sc. Hons and PhD). Post-PhD I moved to IMB, UQ to work with Prof George Muscat looking at transcription control of metabolism by orphan nuclear hormone receptors, and then in vivo pharmacology of GPCR receptor drug targets for obesity and diabetes (Prof David Fairlie, UQ, IMB). In 2018 I commenced an industry-funded research role looking at organ-specific siRNA delivery strategies (Prof Grant Ramm, QIMR Berghofer). This diverse research background has provided an excellent backdrop for my current role where I get to use my research, administrative and interpersonal skills in an exciting and thriving laboratory.
