About
Dr Haran Sivakumaran is a Research Officer at the Functional Genetics Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer.
Dr Sivakumaran completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Western Australia before moving to Brisbane in 2004. After completing his PhD at QIMR Berghofer with Prof. David Harrich, he continued developing his expertise in molecular and cell biology with Profs Stacey Edwards and Juliet French. Haran works with a multi-disciplinary team focussed on revealing the mysteries behind a poorly understood class of molecule (long non-coding RNAs) that play important and diverse roles in human cancers.
Research Skills
Molecular biology, cell biology & engineering, CRISPR, protein biochemistry, cell pathways and molecular mechanisms.
Area of Interest
To understand the role that non-coding RNAs play in the development and progression of cancers, and to exploit this understanding for novel therapeutic targeting.
