Research Officer
Dr Christos Xiao is a post-doctoral researcher at the Cancer Genetics Laboratory with a focus on breast cancer studies.
He completed his PhD at Sun Yat-sen University, China in 2016 and joined QIMR Berghofer in 2017. His expertise is in cancer immunology, particularly the interactions among different cell types within the microenvironment of solid tumours.
He is currently investigating the therapeutic potential of targeting KCNN4, which is the product of a breast cancer risk gene found by genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and followup analyses by the Cancer Genetics Laboratory and collaborators. His research extends to identifying immunological biomarkers in peripheral blood samples from pre/early-diagnosis breast cancer cases.
